Organizations are always looking for great leadership and honestly great leaders, individuals who either see themselves as a great leader or have the potential to be a great leader.   The age old, million-dollar question is “How do we identify these individuals and build them into the leader they want to be or more importantly the Leader they could be?”   The process, as difficult as it may seem, is simple.  First, we must remember that the secret in leading people, is to generate an atmosphere in which others feel comfortable and appreciated, provide the proper tools, resources and support to grow and learn and then coach and mentor to the Next Level.   Every person in a leadership role – the manager or supervisor, sale people, service people or even a parent or guardian must do many things, which go against the grain when handling workers, customers, prospects or even our own children.

An effective leader understands who THEY are, takes control of their own life and leads themselves in the direction they want to go.  The effective leaders know how to give themselves a command and follow it.  Effective Leaders understand their creative abilities and they know they have the capacity to create anything they want in their world, whether on their own or as a team or organization.  They always maintain a GREAT attitude regardless of what’s going on outside, and the know where they are going and ALTHOUGH they have a plan or plans, they DO NOT know how they are going to get there.  They ONLY know they are going to get there.  They will change their plan but, they never change the goal.  Leaders understand that if a person is not prepared to do more than they are being paid for, they will never be paid for more than what they are doing.  BUT the most important identifying factor of a true leader is; that of a person who has people following them, NOT because they have to, BUT because they WANT TO.

Leaders are found at every level of an organization.  The challenge is to develop their talents and abilities and make them more effective.  Leaders have the power to choose alternative ways of thinking, acting, and behaving in the leadership activities for which they are responsible.  Identifying these key individuals can be as simple as sifting and watching in your organization, or through our online tools using our Next Level Leadership Assesment & O.P.S Leadership Development program to help provide personal insight and the key dimensions and behaviors, actions and traits of your potential leaders, developing them into the best version of themselves- V2.0+.
